Mea culpa. In all the meandering of last night's post, I omitted to put any contact details up for Jonty Henshall, the man who's just finished shaping my 6"9' twin fin. I surfed it today and had a gem of a ride on the very first wave that came along. The board was fast and responsive, and, with plenty of float, was easy to catch waves with. It was good to get back in the water after a week on land, and even better to have such an excellent first wave.
After that, the biggest seal I've ever seen popped up right next to me and (confession looming) put me off a little. He was a monster, and I fancied he was giving me the old 1,000 yard stare, one patented by my mate James from the Foreign Legion. It's fine when James does it, because he's over in Corsica, but when a big old bull seal looks you in the eye from all of three feet away, you can feel decidedly discombobulated. So, after a couple of nailings on some very late take-offs, I oped to go in, after a relatively short surf, with the first wave still fresh in my memory.
If anyone wants to get in touch with Jonty about boards, he can be reached via jontyhenshall@yahoo.co.uk. He's pictured here courtesy of Russ Pierre.
