Click here for my piece in the Times about Lyme disease and cervical myelopathy.
Meanwhile, two quick notes: one, apologies to all who've emailed me about Lyme only to feel they've expended energy into a void. I receive a large number of emails because of work each day but this number has jumped exponentially since I've been writing about Lyme. I will try to reply to each one but please bear with me.
Second, if you post a comment on this blog and for some reason it doesn't get published, please check out www.alexwade.com, locate the 'Contact' tab and send me an email. Comments should be published automatically on this blog and I've only ever removed one (and Penfold, it wasn't yours!). If they're not appearing it's because there's a glitch - do let me know about it. I would post my email address but my good friend Jules advises that this is risky practice in the virtual world - spammers hijack it and so forth.
Above is the pic used by the Times, courtesy of Adam Pearson and South West News Service. I look suitably furrowed and given that it poured with rain throughout this shoot I'm not sure Adam was much happier. The dogs look content though.

Many thanks Alex for writing this piece in the Times I am sure it will go some way to raising awareness.
I was pleased to here you had a good day yesterday lets hope you have many more such days.
I look forward to your Telegraph article.

Does this explain the loss of our Coaster Column? How you are back in action soon.

Alex,
You increased the Times circulation today - I don't usually buy it on Monday. Glad to see they gave you some space, and a nice pic (of the dogs anyway!) Pity you had to write from experience, but it's all grist to the writer's mill, which is still turning well.

I would rewrite the missing comment but I fear it's irreverence was best lost in the bowels of the blogiverse...

Alex
Thank you for posting the article today and for your blog-site.
There could be a film in this! We could contact James Cameron. The genre would be specifically 'Fantastic Journey' - just googled it -- OMG he's at it already - the sneak! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000079/news?year=2009#ni1282526
Anyway here's Raquel - she is the nurse: http://content9.flixster.com/photo/11/86/24/11862451_gal.jpg
I was hoping to get the image of her covered in macrophages - Doh!
Obviously the sequel will be about a freelance journalist and world-class surfer fighting Lyme and how they shrink down Kate Winslett, Leo de Caprio, Jude Law, Colin Firth plus others in order to save him and Slyme the Lyme! They do - but - hang on a minute - we're stumbling into another genre - This is no good it's the 80's - get away Bill Murray, Harrol Ramis, Dan Ackroyd - you're not up to the job. Talk about Lyme Wars. Willy Burgdorfer hadn't even identified the organism yet. Reality check!!
Best wishes Alex.

Alex
I think you stirred something up here because there are many interesting comments on your article.
Several people on Eurolyme have said their comments weren't posted today, so much so that I rang the paper to see if the comments were turned off. They say not but still only one comment (in half) has been posted today.
Perhaps we have got the Times worried that there may be something funny going on!!!and they are not one to upset the Establishment.
