This damn neck of mine gave me a lot of grief last night. Thank God for my stash of heavy-duty painkillers.
The reason for the recurrence of quite debilitating pain and good old electric shocks in my left hand is, I think, surfing.
I've got in the water a fair bit lately - maybe five times in 10 or 12 days - but the cumulative effect left me in some discomfort last Thursday, after a session with Harry and his mate Josh Braddock (the lad from Lanzarote who's staying with us).
On the beach was Aerial Attack, who snapped a few images which show that while Harry and Josh look increasingly airborne, I am heavier of midriff than ever and looking resolutely down the line rather than above and beyond it.
Not that I care. I am stoked to be in the water, just cruising around, though I am worried that the pain and shocks do not augur well.
Yet again, I wonder: should I pack it all in? What's the point in surfing when the risks are so high? When paralysis might come my way? As I write those words, the answer is obvious. Time, at the very least, to get the docs to give me one last scan and find out once and for all how the titanium cage holding my neck together is looking.

Have you thought about an SUP? I'm not sure if it would be lighter on your neck, but not having to jump up suddenly on take-off might help. Take care, Alex - reading the word 'paralysis' isn't very pleasant, so I can only imagine how unpleasant it is to be thinking about it.

don't you dare SUP you will never be able to show your face again. JUST TAKE IT EASY. DO SOME YOGA or at least pilates anything to strenghthen the area around your neck and shoulders. Pop in the gallery and i'll give you some exercises that will help or i'll see you down the cove. but remember an SUP is for one go only to say you've done it and its not for you .

My MBTs are great. I first ordered Sketchers, but they were too short. The MBT length is true to size, and I can tie them tight enough to fit my very narrow, long foot. They even live up to the hype. The shoes took a little getting used to, but now they seem perfectly natural. I also feel that my posture is better and walking is even fun.
