Happy new year to those who have checked this blog out over the past few years, and to those who still happen upon it despite its author's apparent reluctance to write anything of late.
Also, many thanks to all the excellent spammers who post comments. I'd like to say that I can't be bothered to delete them but that'd be a lie. Truth is that I really like spam. It makes me feel valued when I read something like "Most tables are 100% fiction and a mortgage is theirs" or "Elegantly, he rode the top of the bus and unclasped its bra" or, best of all, "The summer is the winter is not the spring where is the drink mineral water and eggs".
So, spammers, please keep spamming.
Meanwhile, what is the news? Well, in terms of surfing I have nothing to say. My neck has gone wrong again and therefore I stay inland as much as possible these days. Living on the coast, this is difficult, but when I am near the sea (as in every day) I tend to walk around wearing a blindfold so as not to see the waves. This can cause further problems, such as falling over and hurting my neck, but otherwise serves me well.
I presently await the results of the latest MRI scan, this done just before Christmas. My neck gives me plenty of grief and I reluctantly accept that carrying on with boxing training is not a good idea. If I have to have another op, so be it, but I live in hope of a genuine return to normality and surfing.
In truth, indeed, my life has gone somewhat haywire ever since the neck op at the tailend of 2009. A sense of perspective appears to elude me but one thing I am clear about is just how important surfing was. It kept me sane and in check. Without it I've become a little lost.
Anyway, I shall endeavour to blog more regularly again, though regrettably surf-talk is likely to remain thin on the ground. But wait, what's this? Yes, QPR - every surfer's favourite football team - remain rooted to the top of the Championship, so that's good news, as is this video of Newquay surfing.
