I have a daunting task: to write 60,000 words of a surfing book by mid-April. I've written 10,000 to date of a collection of surfing short stories, but the advance for this project was, as occasional lawyers like me say and with all due respect to my publisher, de minimis and so the business of making a living continues unabated. Having to pay the bills means that the writing of this book has not progressed apace; so, too, a departure from my usual work - writing a course on media law for University College Falmouth's BA in Journalism.
However, onwards. It is the only sensible direction. I am knuckling down to write the said 60,000 words and remain on the look out for stories with a 'wow' factor. If you've got one, drop me a line at alex@alexwade.com with a phone number, and I'll give you a shout. Thanks meantime to Tony Plant for the attached image of Danny Wall (seems like a must for the book to me) and to Mark Tyers for some top material from Norfolk.
Note to self: was it wise to give up the law and write for a living?
