Anybody fancy a year in the surf heaven of Lanzarote?
Tracey Erlandsen contacts me from Lanza. She'd like to do a house swap with someone in Cornwall - ideally in or near St Agnes - for a year from around mid-June 2014. Tracey would like to bring her dog and cat with her, and is happy for people staying in her house to have their pets there, too.
Here's a selection of photos of Tracey's place.
Tracey tells me the house "is in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Costa Teguise. It's a big, comfy, detached property with a low maintenance garden, terraces and pool area. Modern and open plan; most people who come here love it. There's a countryside feel although it's only a 10 minute walk (or a two minute drive) to the bright lights of Costa Teguise. The island is tiny (same size as the Isle of Wight) so nowhere takes very long to get to; Arrecife 10 minutes, airport 15 minutes, Arrieta and the NE coast breaks 15-20 minutes, Famara 20 minutes, La Santa 25 minutes.
"There are three bedrooms, three bathrooms (and an extra w.c.) and a separate studio that I use as my office. The basement garage is huge and I would hope to be able to store some of my private stuff in one section of this when I move out. The property is thoughtfully planned with a good sized dressing room and two of the bathrooms are en-suite. The ground floor is all open plan, although you can section off the kitchen with the sliding doors. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a handy larder with a door. There's wifi and it's as good as it gets in Lanzarote! The 8x4 metre pool is heated by solar panels and a solar cover so it's useable for around nine months of the year - without big electric bills. The house is shot as it is, not primped and styled."
Tracey says she plans to be in Cornwall for two years. She's looking for a house swap for the first year and will then see how things are going. She tells me the pool and garden are both easy to deal but that she can recommend people if someone wishes for this to be outsourced.

Sounds very tempting... Lanza has great year-round weather, great waves and good people. If anyone is interested, e-mail Tracey at traceyerlandsen@gmail.com.
